Rob Dufour - Bunny and The Wall

Instead of copying someone else’s thoughts or completely making up my own, I will be honest: I had no clue what was happening during The Wall, absolutely none. The majority of the time I was disturbed by the images and sounds, and when I thought I was starting to make sense of something, a new image or a trippy scenery popped up that threw me for a whole new loop. The only thing I actually enjoyed about it were the few sane songs that Pink Floyd had within the movie – the rest of it, quite frankly, made me uncomfortable. Maybe that’s the point, I have no idea, or maybe I should start doing drugs so I can pretend to understand what was happening in that movie. On second thought I think I’m better off without either.

Now, Bunny, was a short flick in which I definitely came away gaining and understanding something from it. The first thing I noticed was the idea of going towards the light, which is so commonly found in biblical scripture. The light is thought to show the way towards truth, and we see in this short film the bug flying towards any light it can find. We are left to wonder why that bug is so enthralled with the light. It was also interesting to see that the bug led the bunny towards the light, and this light led the way to what we can assume is heaven because the bunny grew wings and peacefully floated closer to the light source. Another thing I took away from this movie was the importance of music in a film without speaking. When the bunny was first startled by the light in the stove she was trembling and the music that was playing was slightly scary and mysterious. I would be shaken up if a light was protruding out of my stove too, but I think that this can represent the fear many of us have stemming from this ultimate mystery. Then as the bunny starts to comprehend what is happening and accepts what is about to take place, the fear turns to interest, and the music changes into a more intriguing tune with a hint of discovery to the melody, because now she wants to find out more and see what the light has in store for her. Then as the bunny makes in into the oven and heads toward the light, the music turns into a hymn sounding song, which to me tells us that she is on her way towards heaven and to be with God
