We watched the short film version of Bunny. This movie was really interesting and at first I really did not know what it really was all about. After watching it and thinking the bunny was actually a male, I found out the bunny was in fact a female, wow! There were a few different things that were interesting about the film. The fact that the bunny was bigger then the oven but still fit in, the idea that the oven leads her to another place, she also walked easily from her chair to the oven. It was also really cool how the stars turn into the oven walls while the oven walls disappear. There is a moth that comes back to seem to guide her somewhere, this moth I believe is her husband coming back to her to “the light” which is what moths are attracted to and always to towards. The music also sets a tone, it starts out, and during the time one would assume she is still alive, as a mysterious type of music that leads one to wonder what is going to happen. The music then changes to that of a peaceful music on her way to another life, which I believe to be Heaven.
All of these things present the idea that the bunny has died and is going into Heaven. The transformations made from the bunny’s old haggard self into a bunny that can walk and move fine. This could represent the Christian idea that one’s body does not transcend this life with them into Heaven. This idea that one is made new in a different form in Heaven is very interesting. Christianity also presents the idea that one will not be able to be recognized in Heaven based on their earthly form. Her husband, the moth, is definitely an example of that. Who would recognize a bunny that has been transformed into a moth? This movie was very interesting; it really presented some good ideas if you looked deep enough into it. I don’t know if there was any reason that the director decided to use a bunny instead of another animal. That would be interesting to find out though.
