When I originally wrote this blog, I was utterly speechless. All throughout the wall, my only response was that of “I have nothing to say.” Having never done any drugs, I have a feeling I sorely ill prepared for this movie. Although I did enjoy this movie, I spent most of it with my jaw dropped and actually caught myself saying “what” more than a couple times. The use of art throughout the movie compounded this feeling, as much of the art was very, very abstract and also, more notably, very misogynistic.
Update: I just saw The Rocky Horror Picture Show for the first time, and now have a much deeper appreciation for The Wall and its comparatively straight-forward nature when compared to this movie. Having watched both of these movies now, I think the comedian Joe Rogan was in the general area when he said “you can’t like that [movie] and not be pro-weed.” I have a near certainty that these movies were heavily influenced by some type of drug.
