Matt Page- Inspiration through books

The most recent book I read was an autobiography of Christiano Ronaldo called Moments. Ronaldo is one of the greatest young soccer players who plays for Manchester United in England. Aside from having a passion for the sport, I felt it would be interesting to read about one of the greatest soccer players who is about my age. Over the past month or two I have been trying out for a professional soccer team down in Wilmington. I really began paying attention to the beginning of this book, which talked about his early years and how he had come to be a professional soccer player himself. Reading about his experiences on his home island and slowly progressing up the ranks in his home country of Portugal until he became a member of one of the most esteemed soccer clubs in the world was incredible to read and was extremely inspiring. Reading about how he trained and mentally prepared for his tryouts really gave me insight to what it takes to make it at the professional level. Each weekend I would travel to Wilmington, I was sure to read the beginning of this book to help fire me up and inspire me to play my best. Thus far it has seemed to work as they have asked me to move down to train with the team over summer. I feel that through reading the experiences of other professional athletes and preparing myself spiritually, I have been able to progress in this sport.
