Ben Ash - Random Blog 2 - My Atheism

As I noted in my blog on my tattoo, I am a fairly open Atheist. This is because I know that, regardless of my religion, I have been a good person throughout my life and people that can’t see past my belief and judge me solely on it simply aren’t worth my time. Also, I am so open about it because Christians are so open about their religion. I used to hide my Atheism from everyone because I didn’t want a conflict with anyone. Now, however, I proudly announce it because, as I stated before, anyone so willing to judge you on your belief that it will affect if they are your friend or not, isn’t worth friendship in the first place.
Update: A Couple days ago, the “Crazy” Christian guy came back on campus and was quoting from the Bible left and right. What I found ironic, however, were his references to the Old Testament. I argue that the second you put an ounce of faith in the literal word of the Bible, as he did; you are beholden to the work in its entirety. With that, the man had tattoos and was therefore, in my eyes, just as hypocritical as anyone else. Looking past this, he is a beacon for the group of religious people which I have utter disdain for. Those like him who are so absolute in their belief that the fire and brimstone approach is the only way to live a good life, and anyone who isn’t exactly like them in belief is going straight downstairs, I just view as comical. If he is what ends up in heaven, then Hell seems like a treat rather than a punishment.
