I do not believe in world peace apart from Christ's return. No amount of diplomacy or wars will create a state of perfect harmony among human beings. We are completely depraved. From birth we are self-centered and sinful. The premise that world peace can be achieved from loving others is only attainable if you have authentic love to give. The only true way to love one another is to be loved perfectly first. We can experience perfect love through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Without knowing Christ it is impossible to love one another. We as humans may try to give ourselves to seemingly righteous activities or causes but without Christ in us we are coming at these profitable causes with disguised motives. We give to get back or we give to appear better in front of our peers. How is selfless world peace attainable with self-centered motives? I for one am completely skeptical when I hear Presidential candidates call for world peace because its not humanly possible. If you disagree, name one period in time where there has been global world peace? If you are having trouble coming up with an example this is not surprising because I honestly tried to think of one myself. If we want to see peace on this earth it will be from the overflowing source of Jesus Christ.
