The Kingdom of Heaven offers it's audience a historical/fictional view on the crusades. There are historical characters in this movie like the Muslim warlord Saladin and the Christian Crusader named Balian but the details of lives are quite fictional. The battle over Jerusalem between the Christians and Muslims has been raging for years and years. Ridley Scott's Kingdom of Heaven does a poor job of accurately describing the crusades from a historical standpoint. If I was to take off my historical lens and view this movie purely from an acting standpoint the movie would score even a lower rating. I find the topic of the crusades very interesting and this movie has thoroughly damaged my curiosity. The movie depicts Christians as mindless barbarians and Muslims as peaceful/respectful nation. Historically this is not true or close to being accurate. Both Christians and Muslims were quite guilty of unpleasant behavior that was unwarranted and neither side was more respecting than the other. Overall, I would not recommend this movie to anyone.
