Ben Ash - Movie Blog 5 - Smokin' Aces
What has to be one of my favorite movies I own, Smokin’ Aces is one of those movies I can watch over and over without ever getting tired of it. One reason for this is the character played by Common. In one part of the movie, when he is talking with Buddy Israel about his loyalty, he says a quote along the lines of “outside of a dog, my kind of shit doesn’t get any more devout.” This quote, ever since I heard it, has stayed with me. Loyalty, in my eyes, is one of the most important qualities someone can have. Anyone that has ever broken my trust has either lost my friendship completely or it has taken a long time, years at least, to regain my trust. Even with the latter, I still won’t ever trust that group of people again to the degree which I initially did. The tattoo on my right bicep reads “True Until Death” and I take this tattoo very literally. I know that before I would ever betray one of my friends, I would prefer death. Without my loyalty to my friends and to my beliefs in general, I feel like I would be nowhere.
